Description
Part of the EmpowerED 3-Course Series, Transgender and Gender Diversity Equity and Inclusion at Work is the first of a 3 courses focused on workplace equity and inclusion. Completing all 3 courses earns you a Transgender Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate.
The Series begins with terminology and language and deconstructing societal bias around gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.
By the end of the 3 Course Series, participants will be able to:
APPLY:
– knowledge of gender identity, expression and diverse identities, to create equitable opportunities for all participants to join in successfully;
– the learning tools acquired to create welcoming, diversity-celebrating engagement with your participants/classes;
– beyond binary strategies to increase enrolment in their programs and positive engagement throughout the duration of their program.
DEMONSTRATE:
– thought-leadership principles to guide inclusive communications best practices, bias checks and equitable leadership strategies;
– verbal and non-verbal communication methods to elevate your ability to be a leader and navigate challenging conversations;
– examples of inclusive language best-practices, with confidence, supporting gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation across diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, ability and more.
RECOGNIZE:
– bias and provide examples of unbiased communication strategies;
– language and behaviour that is harmful and discriminatory and use strategies to navigate positively;
– how their increased understanding of marginalization and intersectionality can be applied in a leadership capacity to prevent bias-based decisions.
