Beyond Barriers 4 Inclusion Premiere Series and Workshops:
SGF’s ‘Beyond Barriers 4 Inclusion’ (BB4I) program is a series of 3 certificate courses designed to empower you with actionable tools and knowledge focused on best-practices inclusion and equity awareness. By completing this series, you’ll be equipped to perform your professional role with competency and confidence, ensuring that you can create welcoming, safe, and brave spaces for all individuals.
These courses specifically focus on shifting bias and countering stigma surrounding gender identity and gender expression. Upon completion of each course within the series, you’ll receive a certificate, validating your achievement and demonstrating your commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

BB4I: 2SLGBTQ+ 101
In this 60-minute course, participants will update their language, learn about emerging identities within our culture and get some quick training on how to create an inclusive environment for their community, clients and/or coworkers.

BB4I: Beyond Binary Bias
In this 60-minute course, participants will gain an understanding of bias and the types which negatively impact working relationships and environments. They will also learn to recognize bias through an intersectional lens and gain strategies for checking and removing harmful biases.

BB4I: Perfecting Pronouns
In this 60-minute course, participants will learn about the importance of pronouns, gaining easy to use tools and tricks to using gender-neutral language.
All certified courses are offered asynchronously, and include surveys, Q&A, quizzes and interactivity. Successful participants earn a certificate of completion. Group rates available.

In partnership with Recreation Nova Scotia, we are proud to support recreation leaders in better developing their organizations and strengthening communities. BB4I certification series, Leadership in Recreation and Sport, is an accredited 3-course asynchronous training program delivering skills and tools to create welcoming, inclusive and equitable spaces.

At SGF we deliver both regularly and there are learning pros and cons on each side.
You might choose independent e-Learning to elevate your training skills, boost your resume and prepare for upcoming job-postings. Asynchronous learning has an added benefit of inspiring 100% engagement from participants in watching the videos, engaging in quizzes and applying the learning. Live (in-person or virtual) workshops provide opportunity for great group discussions and sharing input.

How will course materials be delivered?
At SGF we deliver both in-person and virtual workshops regularly and there are learning pros and cons on each side.
For those participating in our asynchronous e-learning, our programming is all housed within the top-quality, industry leading LMS platform iSpring Learn.
Upon purchasing your course(s), you will receive an email confirming your purchase and you’ll be directed to our platform where you can set-up your unique password and user account. Access to your course will begin shortly thereafter!
The entire course is delivered online, virtually. If you ask a question while in the platform, a member of our team will receive a notification and respond back to you within business working hours. We pride ourselves on supporting all participants with live, local support and appreciate your engagement!

Yes. In fact, if you participate in our full BB4I series, you’ll receive 3 certificates!
SGF is a nationally accredited Rainbow Registered business and also a Rainbow Registered Assessor. Our standards are high and we are recognized nationally and building upon our client’s successes. Our unique e-Learning delivery is designed to support you in building thought-leadership skills at your own pace, in a fun and engaging way.
Each module is completed in sequence and additional courses are available to continue building your skills and knowledge.
Our courses are a valuable accreditation to add to your professional development assets. A commitment of approx. 3.0 hours of working through the e-learning program and participation in activities will be required to earn accreditation.
You’ll be able to download each certificate upon completion of the individual course.
I am part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and unsure about taking this program being offered by my employer. Do I have options?
Self-care in Learning is an upmost priority at SGF. Reduction of trauma is at the heart of what we do. There are always options and we’re happy to provide a solution, protecting anonymity of participants. Please reach out to us directly.
At SGF, we acknowledge that organizations embarking on this kind of EDIA education must be cognizant of the diverse identities of participants and potential trauma and/or personal triggers which can be caused by mandatory training initiatives, which include trans and non-binary team members.
This series is designed for those who are looking to gain a better understanding and skillset to support inclusion of trans, non-binary and gender expansive individuals. It is predominantly designed for cisgender participants.
With this stated, the experiences shared within this program are all uniquely personal to every individual and we acknowledge there are no two alike experiences or journey’s. Our diverse team of trans and non-binary educators and cis-allies are learning every day from shared experiences and therefore we feel confident there is always an opportunity for everyone to grow from this program.
We strive to create brave spaces to encourage thoughtful conversations. For anyone who has been personally impacted by similar experiences, this type of content may, on one hand, make a person feel seen and validated, and on the other, trigger feelings of deep hurt.
