Gender Affirming Coaching for Parents with Trans Children

Because acceptance is just the beginning—let’s walk this journey together.

Parenting a transgender or gender-diverse child comes with love, learning, and a lot of questions. Maybe you’re trying to understand the right language. Maybe you’re navigating schools, doctors, or family. Maybe you’re scared to say the wrong thing—and just want to get it right.

You don’t have to do this alone.

Welcome to Walking Alongside—a private coaching space designed for parents and caregivers of trans and gender-diverse youth. Grounded in lived experience and professional insight, for you to gain clarity, affirming language, and support for your parenting journey.

Meet Your Coach

Hi, I’m Cynthia (Cyn) Sweeney. I’m an equity, inclusion and belonging (EDIA) consultant, certified leadership coach, mentor, and founder of Simply Good Form Inc. I’m also a proud mom to a transgender young adult.

Like many parents, I didn’t have a road map when our journey began. But I found my way—and now I help others find theirs. Through one-on-one coaching, I offer practical support, affirming tools, and a listening ear without judgment.

Whether you’re just starting or deep into the journey, I’m here to walk alongside you.

What You’ll Gain

  • Tools to affirm your child with inclusive, kind, everyday language
  • Clarity around systems like schools, health care, and legal name/gender marker changes
  • Support for your emotions—grief, fear, guilt, confusion, and everything in between
  • Scripts and strategies for navigating tough conversations with family and professionals
  • A guide who gets it—because I’ve been there, too

A quote says "We were pleased to have Cynthia share both their personal and professional experiences at our event for Halifax Pride 2019. Their thoughtfulness, attention to inclusive language and willingness to employ their family's story to help others learn was very much appreciated by our organization and our guests. Cynthia's warmth as a presenter put audience members at ease, even when talking about topics that can be difficult for some to discuss."
