What is THRIVE WORKS?
At Simply Good Form Inc., we recognize the barriers for young 2SLGBTQ+ people in gaining meaningful community connections through work and volunteer opportunities.
Designed by Simply Good Form, THRIVE Works is a FREE 4-week virtual certificate program designed for 2SLGBTQ+ young adults between the age of 16 to 25 years old in order to provide them with meaningful skills, connections and a pathway for future career opportunities.
THRIVE Works was developed with support by the Mental Health Foundation Nova Scotia, volunteer engagement and Nova Scotia Power.
Eligibility Criteria
- Identify as a 2SLGBTQ+ young adults between the age of 16-to-25 years old. (Anyone under 18 must have permission from Parent/Guardian)
- Live in Nova Scotia.
- Be enthusiastic about building skills and participating in an online-virtual course
- Be comfortable with program delivery via both individual and group Zoom environment; self-guided online learning course; and through individual check-in meets and a Mock Interview Panel.
- Have experienced barriers accessing work and/or volunteer experience over the past 2 years.
- Be willing to commit to participation in full 4 Week program (approx. 1.5 hrs. per week).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is required for accreditation?
We recognize and celebrate the commitment of time and engagement to this course.
Upon completion and based upon participation, participants will receive an Accredited Badge and Certification and Letter of Reference.
This Certificate will come with a list of accomplishment achieved throughout the course and where applicable be accompanied by a Mentor/Facilitator(s) Letter of Reference for your perusal in the future.
A commitment of approx. 1.5 hours of working through the weekly e-learning class and then completing approx. 30 mins. of assignments, and participating in a Mock-Interview (either pre-recorded or live-virtual), is required.
Each week builds upon the last week and commitment to all 4 Weeks is required to be able to enrol in the course and receive an accredited completion certificate.
Your course accreditation will arrive approximately 2-to-3 weeks after the date of your completion.
How do I register to participate in the program?
Please see the registration form above. A member of our team will be contact about next steps and to confirm your spot! After you apply, you will schedule a short orientation zoom with a member of our time. Here we’ll answer questions, provide details about the program and confirm you spot.
It is our goal to offer representation to people from across the province. Therefore we are selecting participants based on order of application and also the geographical location you live in within Nova Scotia. Follow our social media channels to hear more throughout the summer about this program.
While the program has limited capacity, our intention is to offer this program each Winter and Fall for free to LGBTQ2+ participants between the ages of 16-to-25-years-old. For more information please contact: connect@simplygoodform.com
What is required to participate in this program?
- Participants must be living in Nova Scotia and between the age of 16-to-25 years old and identify as LGBTQ2+.
- Participants are required to commit approx. 2 hours per week over 6 Weeks to the course.
- Course launches Monday, October, 17th through November 25, 2022.
- If you are a student within Nova Scotia, our team can communicate with a teacher mentor at your school so they are aware of your participation and support your time commitment.
- Each week we focus on a new topic which will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete through watching the video lessons and interactive activities. There may be an additional 30 mins. of exercises to complete and submit to your Facilitator Emma, before the beginning of the next week.
- Each week builds upon the previous week and a FULL commitment to all 6 Weeks is required to to enrol in the course and receive an Accredited Certificate.
- Access to hardwired computer with good wifi, video and headphones.
Is this course free?
Yes! Proudly developed with funding from the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, sponsored by Nova Scotia Power, Simply Good Form Inc. is running this program in Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 free to a limited number of applicants. The program will continue with support from future partner sponsors.

No problem! We have you covered. In the event that you have lost your certificate, simply email us with the exact date of the training, and the organization (if applicable) you registered through. We will be happy to provide you with a replacement.
